Why we made this
Most mulch calculators online are slow, plastered with ads, and stop at a single cubic-yards number. If you have ever stood in an aisle trying to remember whether you needed 14 bags or 40, you know the problem. We wanted one page that loads instantly, works with one thumb, and answers the real questions: how many cubic yards, how many bags, and whether bulk or bagged is cheaper for your job.
How it works
Everything runs in your browser — there is no account, no login, and nothing to install. The math is deliberately simple and transparent: area times depth gives cubic feet, divided by 27 for cubic yards, divided by your bag size for bag count. We show all of those at once, add an optional waste factor for real-world spillage and settling, and let you compare prices so you buy the right amount once.
Accuracy
We use standard formulas and round bag counts up so you never come up short. That said, real beds are uneven, materials settle, and supplier bag and bulk sizes vary, so treat every result as a close estimate rather than a guarantee. When in doubt, confirm the final figures with your supplier — especially for heavy rock deliveries and playground safety surfacing, where the stakes are higher.
Who it's for
Homeowners refreshing a few beds, gardeners planning a season, and crews pricing a job all use the same tool — just pick the material that fits. We keep it free, keep the ads light, and keep improving it. Have an idea or spotted a problem? The contact page is the fastest way to reach us.
